MULTAN: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government was focusing on all sectors including health by introducing reforms and taking practical measures.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Bakhtawar Ameen Medical and Dental College on Thursday, the president stated that the government was committed to extending all possible facilities of health to the masses at their doorsteps. “Issues of health are too complicated to be resolved by government itself, and it needs support from corporate sector as well,” said the president.
He emphasised the need for adopting precautionary measures to prevent the spread of different diseases, adding that the federal and provincial governments were striving hard for provision of best healthcare facilities.
He recommended the government to hand over primary education to women teachers as they teach the children with more love and care. “Certain families were not in favour of co-education and such families would feel ease for getting their daughters admitted to the schools run by women only at primary level.
He said it was a good omen that women were working shoulder to shoulder with men in the field of medicines. However, he added they should continue to work even after their weddings, as it was equally important for their own family as well as the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana said the provision of health, education, and clean drinking water were his passion.
He said the establishment of Bakhtawar Amin Medical and Dental College was a milestone and was a service to the people of this area. He urged the corporate sector to come forward and join hands with the government for provision of health, education and clean drinking water to the masses.
Among others who spoke include Bakhtawar Amin Medical and Dental College Board of Governors (BoG) Chairman Kamran Rasool, who regretted that only one doctor was available for treating 1,500 people in the country.
He said there was a need of sixty thousand additional doctors in the country to extend better quality of healthcare. He said they had focused healthcare at affordable rates through Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust.
Kamran Rasool pledged to make the college one of the finest medical schools of the country. Principal Bakhtawar Amin Medical and Dental College Dr Samee Akhtar also spoke on the occasion.
Federal Minister Sikandar Bosan, Sultana Shaheen, Khola Amjad, BZU VC Dr Tahir Amin, Multan division Commissioner Asad Ullah Khan, Khawaja Jalalud din Romi, Pakistan Cricket Team Chief Selector Inazamamul Haq, and large number of doctors and students attended the ceremony.
