MANSEHRA: The district administration has asked Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to deposit a tentative cost for the acquisition of 6,000 kanals of land for the establishment of airport in Tanawal area of the district.
Speaking to journalists here on Friday, the Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hussain said the district government had already imposed section-4 to acquire the land for the establishment of an airport in Tanawal. “Now in order to start the land acquisition process the CAA should deposit a tentative cost of land in the bank account of revenue department,” the official added.
Earlier, the DC was chairing a meeting which among others was also attended by representatives of revenue department and CAA. The DC told the meeting that unless a tentative cost of land was not being deposited with district administration/revenue department no further legal formalities could be started. He maintained, “Under land acquisition laws the district administration is liable to pay the landowners within six months or else the section 4 would automatically be de-notified.
The official said the district administration had acquired the land of eight villages for the establishment of airport in Tanawal area. He added if the money was transferred into revenue department account the process to acquire land and payment of money to landowners would also be kicked off.
He said the revenue department had also been directed to finalise lists of landowners of the specified area.
