ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari criticised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N for claims that the Nawaz league has been disqualified from contesting Senate elections.
Talking to the media in the federal capital, Zardari said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates are still in contention for Senate elections as independent hopefuls. He also alleged the party of trying to stir a clash between institutions.
“Bureaucracy in Punjab is conspirating against institutions and trying to stir a clash between them. I am afraid if Shahbaz is also disqualified, what would become of the party,” Zardari said.
Taking jibes at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PPP co-chairman said that the Indian premier is focused on tarnishing Pakistan’s image globally, while Nawaz terms him as a friend.

Responding to a question regarding PPP’s unsatisfactory performance in NA 154 by-polls, Zardari said that ‘it is easier to gain votes’ for ruling parties. He also claimed that PML-N spent Rs4 billion to triumph in NA 120 by-election.
Lauding party co-chairman and son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the former president said that the way Bilawal represented Pakistan globally, even he himself would not have been able to do that.
